New Scholarship

The Great Draw Scholarship Application

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
In the fall of 2013 Outside the Lines Art Gallery hosted its 3rd Annual Sidewalk Art Competition called The Great Draw.  This competition featured a professional street artist as well as 70 local competitors.  The competition awarded over $900 in cash to the winners and raised $650 dollars to fund a scholarship for a 2014 Dubuque Senior High School graduate.  The goal of this scholarship is to support students who are beginning their journey as professional artists.
INFO FOR APPLICANTS
Applicants must be attending a two or four year college and plan to major or minor in the visual or graphic arts.  Applicants must already be accepted into the school of their choice and be able to provide a copy of their letter of acceptance upon request

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
DIGITAL PORTFOLIO
Please put
six to eight images in jpeg format, PC compatible, on a CD. Images should be 200 dpi and no bigger than two MB.  Please name files by title and include a hard copy listing of each piece’s title, media, dimensions, and year completed.  The order of the hard copy document should correspond with the order the images are viewed.  Make sure to put your name on all materials submitted. 
Digital portfolio artwork may include drawings, painting, photography, ceramics, digital works, mixed media, printmaking, sculptures, etc. Digital portfolios may include coursework or artwork created outside of art courses, preferably within the past two years.  
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
The artist’s statement should include your reasons for wanting to be an artist, a list of at least three artists and short explanation of why you admire their work, and your academic and artistic goals. Your statement should be at least two full pages in length (double spaced) no larger than 12 point font. Be sure to include your name at the top of your statement.
LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
A letter of recommendation from a current or past instructor familiar with your artistic qualifications should be included with the application.

DEADLINE
Return the completed form along with your portfolio and artist’s statement by May 2, 2014, to any of the following teachers in the Senior High School Art Department:  Mrs. King, Mr. Fautsch, or Mrs. Eagle.
