Since January 1, 2015, students have been able to
complete the 2015-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the
2015-16 Iowa Financial Aid Application. The FAFSA is a standardized
federal form used to determine eligibility for federal, state, and in some
cases, institutional financial aid. On the
state level, the FAFSA serves as the primary application for over $58 million
in need-based state grants. Students can apply for the following state
programs by completing the FAFSA:
- Iowa Tuition Grant (FAFSA deadline is July 1)
- Iowa Vocational Technical Tuition Grant (FAFSA deadline is July 1)
- Kibbie Grant (FAFSA deadline is July 1)
- Iowa Grant (awards are made until funds are depleted)
- Barber and Cosmetology Arts and Sciences Tuition Grant (FAFSA deadline is July 1)The following programs require completion of both the FAFSA and Iowa Financial Aid Application. Just under $8 million in funding is disbursed through the following programs:
- All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship (AIOS - FAFSA and Iowa Financial Aid Application deadline is March 1)
- All Iowa Opportunity Foster Care Grant (FCG - FAFSA and Iowa Financial Aid Application deadline is March 1 for renewals)
- Education Training Voucher (ETV - FAFSA and Iowa Financial Aid Application deadline is March 1 for renewals)
- Terry E. Branstad Iowa State Fair Scholarship (FAFSA and Iowa Financial Aid Application deadline is March 1)
- Iowa National Guard Educational Assistance Grant (Iowa Financial Aid Application deadline is July 1) ****This grant program requires completion of the Iowa Financial Aid Application only
