Did you know? 1) US President Abraham Lincoln admired a 19th
century world-renowned Muslim hero. 2) Suez Canal would most likely not have
been built without this ethical Arab leader. 3) Elkader, Iowa USA was named
after him. “Emir Abdelkader” was a philosopher, intellectual, humanitarian,
poet and scholar and was tolerant of all cultures and faiths. His life story is
important for today.
Monetary scholarship opportunities in the U.S. are available for
students in two categories: 1) high school, and 2) college. Exchange students
are welcome.
Students must write an essay that evaluates the significance of
Abdelkader’s life in light of current events in the US and throughout the
