Through this global perspective Thom has worked to improve and make life fairer for as many people as possible on the planet. Thom has established the Global Perspectives Leadership Award for "...students who will be...leaders by applying global perspectives ... to their work." The award is open to all high school seniors in the Dubuque Community School District, Wahlert Catholic, East Dubuque, Galena, Western Dubuque, SW Wisconsin (Hazel Green), and home-schooled.
