BOUNCE
Sometimes we worry that our child might not have “it”- that
thing that keeps us going day in and day out. We worry because our teen seems to
actually stop in their footsteps with every little road block that gets in
their way. You tell them, “It will be ok…”; “You can get through this…”; “Sometime
life give you lemons, make lemonade!” ….but nothing you seem to say is working.
What’s a parent to do? They must not have that thing that
will get them through life’s bumps and valleys – and you worry. How will they
get through the rest of life….when it gets really hard?
That “it” thing we refer to is called grit - or resiliency.
And the good news is: “It” can be learned!!
…at any age. Resiliency is the
ability to properly adapt to stress and adversity. You can help your student
get more prepared for life’s bumps and valleys by giving your student tools in
their toolbox to move on and live a healthy life. This section of our blog,
which we will refer to as BOUNCE, will be
dedicated to providing information to parents and students about helping our
teens become more resilient. We will send out links to get great website,
provide information and research on resiliency and provide some simple and
effective ways you can help your teen have more grit.
In this first installment, we will give you 10 tips to build
